Pineview is a primarily residential neighbourhood in Ottawa’s east end. The neighbourhood boundaries include the 174 on the north, Highway 417 to the west, Blair Road/Pineview Golf Course on the east and Innes Road to the south. Prior to the City of Ottawa amalgamation in 2001, the neighbourhood was part of the City of Gloucester. Homes for sale in Pineview are mostly single-family homes with ample lots, with some townhomes available on the southeast corner of the neighbourhood.
Lowertown
Sitting in a prime location just east of downtown, Lowertown is one of Ottawa’s oldest neighbourhoods. Bordered by the Rideau River to the east, the Ottawa River to the north, Parliament Hill to the west and Rideau Street to the south, Lowertown has a lot to offer. Carlington is located in the west end of Ottawa. The neighbourhood boundaries are Fisher Avenue to the east Carling Avenue and the Queensway to the north, Maitland Avenue to the west, and the Central Experimental Farm Pathway to the south. The first homes in the Carlington area were built in the 1920s, with further development when “war homes” were built for returning veterans following World War II. The neighbourhood continued to grow until 1980, and now sees only infrequent construction when an older home is replaced with a new home. The neighbourhood is home to Westgate Shopping Centre, the Royal Ottawa Hospital, and Carlington Hill – a popular City of Ottawa sledding site. Barrhaven West / Old Barrhaven
Barrhaven West (also known as Old Barrhaven) is a neighbourhood in the suburb of Barrhaven south of Ottawa. The neighbourhood boundaries are formed by Greenbank Road to the east, Fallowfield Road to the north, Cedarview Road to the west and Strandherd Drive to the south.
The neighbourhood offers a mix of townhomes and single-family homes (many with backyard pools). Barrhaven West has a number of schools and parks and is conveniently located across from Barrhaven’s popular shopping area. The neighbourhood is home to Walter Baker Sports Centre, which offers a fitness centre, multiple pools and 2 full size ice rinks. Glen Cairn
Glen Cairn is a neighbourhood located in Kanata South, about 22km west of downtown Ottawa. The community was built in the 1960s and is one of Kanata’s oldest neighbourhoods. The neighbourhood is bordered by Hazeldean Road, Eagleson Road, and Terry Fox Drive and is divided by a commercial zone in the middle, providing residents with easy access to amenities, services and restaurants. There are many parks and schools in the area, as well as a tennis club and the Hazeldean branch of the Ottawa Public Library. The north side of Glen Cairn features primarily detached and semi-detached homes, while homes on the south side of the community are almost exclusively townhomes. There is still some new development occurring at the south-eastern edge of the neighbourhood.
