One of our favourite fall activities is apple picking at one of the area’s many orchards. It’s a fun day for the whole family, and when you’re done, you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour! Apple pie, apple crisp, apple cobbler, and warm apple cider are just some of the delicious delicacies that you can cook up after a great day of apple picking in Ottawa! Whether you just want to pick some fresh fruit or you’re looking to make a day of it, there’s an orchard near Ottawa for you! From Avonmore to Orleans, we’ve got the scoop on where you can find Ottawa’s best apple picking!
Orleans Fruit Farm
Location: 1399 St Joseph Blvd, Orléans, ON (Approx. 15 mins from downtown Ottawa)
Hours: Weekdays – 9am to 6pm, Weekends – 9am to 5pm

At the Orleans Fruit Farm, you can find a wide variety of fresh, hand-picked produce along with a selection of jams, honey and maple syrup available daily at their kiosk. Pick your own apples is a weekend activity here, but it’s a family tradition among locals that is not to be missed!
Pinewood Orchards
Location: 101 Herzberg Road, Kanata, ON (Approx. 20 mins from downtown Ottawa)
Hours: Weekends – 9 am to 5 pm

Only 20 minutes west of downtown Ottawa, Pinewood Orchards offers several varieties of apples and over 15 acres of fruit and vegetable gardens. With more than 800 mature trees you can pick some of the tastiest apples around. There’s also a small market on site with pre-picked apples and fresh fruits and vegetables.
If you want fresh produce without all the work, visit their produce stand on Carling Ave. at Burke Rd. weekdays from 10:00am to 6:00pm or from 9:00am to 5:30pm on the weekend.
Log Cabin Orchard
Location: 6121 Cabin Rd. Osgoode, ON (Approx. 40 mins from downtown Ottawa)
Hours: Weekdays – 10 am to 5 pm, Weekends – 9 am to 6 pm.

Log Cabin is a 33-acre Orchard surrounded by nature, with different varieties of apples available throughout the season including Paula Red, Red Free, Lobos, McIntosh, NovaMac, Spartans, Honeycrisp, Cortland, Liberty and Empire. On weekends visitors can enjoy a campfire and the Cantina is open with delicious churros, candy apples and fresh apple cider. The picturesque location is also a great spot for family photos.
Cannamore Orchard
Location: 1480 County Road 32, Crysler, ON (Approx. 40 mins from downtown Ottawa)
Hours: Tuesday – Sunday – 10am to 5pm

At Cannamore Orchards, you can pick your own Paula Red, Lobo, McIntosh, Cortland, Spartan or Empire apples depending on what’s in season. You can also buy pre-picked apples in the country store if you prefer fresh apples without the picking. They host family fun weekends in the summer and fall with a variety of activities including giant hedge mazes! Cannamore is also known for its Acres of Terror Halloween attraction. Visit in October to be terrified by spooky wagon rides, a haunted house, scary village, frightening fog maze and more.
Mountain Orchards
Location: 10175 Clark Rd, Mountain, ON (Approx. 45 mins from downtown Ottawa)

Mountain Orchards has been in operation since 1973 and offers over 10 different varieties of apples to pick depending on the season. They also have a variety of family-friendly activities including wagon rides, a corn maze, a hay bale mountain, a playground, forest trails, and a picnic area. There’s an on-site bakery and store and they offer tasty BBQ on the weekends. Check the website to be sure you don’t miss their famous fresh doughnuts!
Avonmore Berry Farm
Location: 16365 Fourth Road, Avonmore, ON (Approx. 50 mins from downtown Ottawa)
Hours: Store: Weekdays – 9am to 6pm, Weekends – 9am to 5pm, Apple Picking: Weekends – 10am to 4pm

Although they’re most famous for their strawberries, Avonmore Berry Farm also offers excellent apple picking in the fall. You can pick your own apples on weekends and get a free wagon ride to the orchard! You can also visit their on-site store The Pantry 7 days a week for fresh baking, ice cream, jam and jam-making supplies, as well as snacks and drinks.
